People who have near death experiences all talk about a peaceful, euphoric , bright light enveloping them. From the moment we are conceived, we are moving towards that light. This is my heels diggin' in, I don't wanna' go, reluctant journey, into the light. Stephen

Blast From the Past/Poor Little Porker

Sometimes, your quarry is just too cute to kill.  That would include young javelina who get left behind as their family scatters when huge monsters start flinging arrows.  The poor little guy was just all tuckered out and really, really wanted his Mama.  Slow roasted whole, he would have been some tasty eats. But.......he was just too cute.  Even with an unpunched tag on the last day of the season.

So the only thing he got shot with was my camera.  And also got kissed by a MONSTER!

His reaction to kissing my brother is probably pretty similar to what mine would have been.

HELP!

Was gone for over a week soth of Baja sailing in a 49 footer "on the Bounding Main."--so way behind on my "grand rounds."

Those old pics remind me--especially as you are into photography in a semi-serious way--do you have an iphone? 'Cause if you do, have I got an app for you! It's called "Hipstamatic." It RULZ (in the current vernacular) It is an app which re-creates the quirks of shooting "old school" but gives you the ability to swap lenses, film types and flash settings all with the swipe of a finger. You, know, like the plastic Kodaks/Polaroids in days of yore whose pics were characterized by blurring, over saturation and discolored images. You can achieve a multitude of artistic effects with this app.
Check out the main site@

http://hipstamaticapp.com/

AND the explanatory "Launch" PDF@

http://hipstamaticapp.com/HipstamaticLaunch-PressRelease.pdf

(Also means you can by-pass photo-shop for many effects)

I noticed your absence Virg. Especially over at Lex' place. "the bounding main" sounds pretty good though. No i-phone here, but I've seen alot of pics from the ap you are talking about. Heather from Dooce.com posted a bunch with it. Pretty cool. These were shot with a Pentax 35 mm in about '79. Welcome back!

I've heard about these up close and personal encounters with Javelina. The only opportunities I've had to get near them is when they rush the chainlink because the dogs are barking viciously at them...don't think I'll be hugging one anytime soon!! Great memories!
